CHINA BEACH

"We called here for a break on our tour of Vietnam. We were able to have a stroll along the long stretch of white sand, this felt even better since we had been hammering the streets of Ho Chi Minh and then Hoi An for the previous week. I am a true beach lover and this was perfect for me, I even ran to the sea to dip my feet I couldn't get my shoes off fast enough.
There is a slight ditch to cross to get on to the main sand but don't know whether this was just because of where we entered the beach. My grandad who is blind and my elderly grandmother found this slightly difficult but enjoyed it non the less. Warm weather and nice to take in the surrounding views. Lovely and peaceful at present but this may change in the future as I think they are developing the surrounding area. "

China Beach

China Beach - is the name, which refers to a strip of fine white sand that begins at Monkey Mountain and ends near Hoi An. This name was given to this beach by the Americans during the Vietnam War. American soldiers were then sent from bases in Vietnam to this beach for R & R (Rest and Relaxation).

However, the Vietnamese people have different names for this long stretch of beach, including My Khe, My An, Non Nuoc, An Bang, Cua Dai. The northernmost section, My Khe, is now effectively a suburb of Danang, while considered in southern An Bang is like Hoi An Beach. The area between Da Nang and Hoi An is now filled with a growing range of resorts.

China Beach became well known for the Hollywood film "Good Morning Vietnam" and the American dramatic television series "China Beach". The ABC TV drama aired for four seasons, from 1988 to 1991.
Water sports activities are plentiful and it can be very crowded on weekends and holidays. The Da Nang coastline stretches 30 kilometres long. It is known for its calm, cool waters and is also popular for fishing, water skiing, diving and sailing.

The best time to swim is from April to July, when the sea is at its calmest. At other times, the water may be rough. Lifeguards keep only a few parts of the beach monitoring. Surfing is good from around mid-September to December.

Nowadays there are also golf courses, private villas and about 150 resorts along the coastline. Most offer luxurious spa treatments, Thai Chi, yoga and reiki. Other resorts are also therapies that will spoil you. Still other resorts look on the outside beautiful. Each resort has something to offer the tourist.
Guests enjoy comfortable, luxurious rooms, and there are opportunities for diving, snorkelling, windsurfing, jet skiing. There are relaxing activities such as volleyball or tennis in extensive gardens of the resort and on rainy days you can stay in the clubhouse and play table tennis or video games.

China Beach

There are major hotel chains perched, like Crowne Plaza, Hyatt, Fusion Maia, Vinpearl and Intercontinental. Some parts of the beach are deposited, because construction activities take place. Sometimes there's also put a project stop, or it is half finished. Then this is due to the recent global recession.

China Beach was named for its beautiful white, porcelain-like sand. It was home to the 510th Evacuation Hospital, where the wounded American soldiers could recover. Meanwhile, the Vietcong had their own hospital surprisingly close: in the caves of the Marble Mountains.
